Yorktown Fastpitch 2010:
This is the 35th year of the Yorktown Fastpitch softball program and the second year under the leadership of Coach Julie Fetter. The team won the National District Championship for the third year in a row during their 2009 season with a National District record of 12-0 (14-0 including district playoffs); and an overall record of 16-5.
Varsity Head Coach – Julie Fetter
Head Coach Julie Fetter is excited to be back for her second season as Head Varsity Coach for the Patriots. She is in her third year with the Yorktown softball program, having served as co-coach for the JV team in 2008 with Coach Litman. Julie is a former college softball player at Frostburg State University, where she played first base and outfield. In prior seasons, Julie has volunteered her coaching time with a travel softball club. Coach Fetter works at a physical therapy clinic in Arlington, VA while she works toward certification as a personal trainer.
Varsity Assistant Coach – Deb Litman
Deb Litman is returning for her second season as Varsity Assistant Coach for the Patriots. This is her third year with the Yorktown softball program, having also served as co-coach for the JV team in 2008. Deb is a former college softball player at Colgate University. She was a catcher and outfielder at Colgate, which qualified for the NCAA national tournament in 2007. Deb coached softball at Georgetown Day School and also has volunteered her coaching time with a travel softball club. Deb is a geneticist and National Sales Manager for a biotech company based in Germany that sells DNA sequencing equipment worldwide.
Varsity/JV Assistant Coach – Bridget Gerrity
Bridget Gerrity is a graduate of Yorktown and Virginia Tech. She is working towards her Master of Education degree in Elementary Education at George Mason University while student teaching at Randolph Elementary School in Arlington. At Yorktown, she played four years of varsity softball, achieving First Team All-District and Most Valuable Player recognition. Bridget is very excited to return to Yorktown for another great softball season.

Junior Varsity Head Coach – Kelly Schumann
Coach Schumann is returning for her second year as Head JV Coach. Kelly is a 2003 Yorktown graduate, where she was the varsity starting pitcher for four years, and captain for two years. She won the Yorktown Excellence Award in 2002 and was named Most Valuable Player in 2003. Kelly was named First Team All-District twice and was National District Pitcher of the Year in 2003. She played for the McLean Blaze, participating in the PONY Nationals and the NSA World Series. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2007, with a degree in French and Secondary Education. Kelly spent the 2007-2008 school year in France, teaching English at a French high school that specializes in culinary arts.
Junior Varsity Assistant Coach – Kristy Clifford
Coach Clifford was a three-sport athlete in high school in Penn Laird, VA. She was a four year varsity starter on her softball team, playing predominantly 3rd base and shortstop. Her team won three District Championships, and earned three Regional berths and one State tournament appearance. She attended Marymount University, where she elected to play basketball and recreational softball. During college and thereafter, she coached high school basektball, first in her hometown, and then for Yorktown High School. She has been the coach of the Freshman basketball team at Yorktown for six seasons, while also working for an international non-profit, Young Life, as the Area Director for North Arlington. She and her husband, Robert, live in Arlington.
